By train: Sheffield station has direct trains to/from most of the UKs big cities. See here for details.

Hotels & Accommodation
The nearest hotel (5 mins walk) is the Rutland. The speakers will be staying here.
Within the city center (10-15 mins walk) there are many other good options, such as the Novotel or the Mercure (both close to the train station), the Leopold (right in the city center), or the Travelodge.
You can also find nice (and often inexpensive) places to stay in Sheffield via Airbnb, including private apartments and shared residences.
Getting to the Hicks building
The meeting will take place in Lecture Theatre 7 of the Hicks building (Hounsfield Rd, Sheffield S3 7RH).
This lecture theatre is inside the upper part of the building, on floor E, and is accessed via the main entrance.
To get to the Hicks building from the train station, the quickest way is to take the tram. From inside the train station, go up onto the concourse, exit from the opposite side to the main station building, and the tram stop is right there. You're already on the correct side of the tracks and you'll need to take the blue line to the stop called "University", shown on the map above. The stops are announced. Tickets are bought on the tram, costing £1.70.
Alternatively, from the train station its a 20-30 minute walk or a short taxi.
